The original Datsun 240Z remains one of the most important and recognizable Japanese sports cars, combining elegant fastback styling, rear-wheel drive and a smooth inline-six engine in a lightweight, engaging package. This 1970 Datsun 240Z, represented by the seller as an early Series 1 example, is powered by a 2.4-litre inline-six with an E88 cylinder head, triple Dellorto 40 DHLA carburetors and headers. A five-speed manual transmission from a 280Z provides more relaxed highway cruising, while the original four-speed transmission is included with the car. The drivetrain and running setup were reportedly inspected, updated and tuned in 2024 by Godzilla in Fort Worth, Texas. More recent work includes a new battery, battery cables, alternator and voltage regulator. Originally finished in 919 Sunshine Yellow, the car was repainted in its current dark brown during previous ownership. The paint now shows age, fading and imperfections, giving the car an honest driver-quality appearance. A period-installed pop-up sunroof remains operational and is reported not to leak. The black interior is partially disassembled around the center console and requires cosmetic completion. A substantial collection of original and replacement components is included, together with an additional set of wheels and tyres, interior trim, grille pieces, workshop literature and assorted service parts. This is not a restored or concours example. It is a mechanically distinctive and largely complete early 240Z intended to be driven, enjoyed and progressively improved.
