1949 Ford F-1 Pickup

Known as Ford’s “Million Dollar Cab,” the first-generation F-1 introduced a roomier cabin, improved visibility and greater comfort to the post-war American pickup. Its rounded bodywork, five-bar grille and compact six-and-a-half-foot bed have made it one of the most recognizable early Ford trucks. This 1949 Ford F-1 is finished in bright red with a light grey cloth interior and presents as a largely period-style restoration. The truck retains its classic Ford proportions, steel bodywork and traditional cabin layout, making it an appealing choice for an enthusiast who values originality and character over modern restomod equipment. Power comes from a 239ci flathead V8, paired with a three-speed manual transmission. The engine is reported to have been rebuilt and the accompanying video shows the truck as a running, turn-key example ready for weekend drives and classic-car events. The red exterior has strong visual presence, while the stainless five-bar grille, chrome bumpers, side bonnet trim and black running boards complete the period look. The paint remains bright and attractive overall, although close inspection shows chips, cracking and localized lifting around some bonnet and front-wing edges. These areas are cosmetic and should be considered part of the truck’s driver-quality presentation. The cargo bed is a particular highlight, featuring clean timber boards separated by polished metal strips. The bed sides and tailgate present well, giving the truck a properly finished appearance from both the front and rear. Inside, the body-color dashboard, chrome center trim, original-style instrumentation, three-speed floor selector and simple door panels retain the charm of a late-1940s Ford. The light grey cloth bench seat remains comfortable and presentable, with visible wear along the lower seat edge consistent with use. The headliner and rubber flooring appear complete and functional. The underside photographs show good frame rails, intact crossmembers, traditional leaf-spring suspension and a clean driver-quality chassis. Some surface oxidation is visible on suspension and exhaust hardware, but no obvious major structural perforation can be seen in the supplied images. This is not represented as a flawless concours restoration. It is a handsome, running and highly characterful classic pickup with period-style presentation, flathead V8 power and selected cosmetic areas that may be improved over time.
